Sema4 Elements® ECS can identify ancestry information from your DNA, which is used to calculate personalized residual risk.

Comprehensive Icon

Comprehensive

Screens for up to 502 genes to give you the information you need to plan for a healthier future for your family.

Learn how one couple’s genetic testing results from Sema4 made finding the right donor even more critical in making informed decisions for their future family.

How does it work?

Get started. Talk to your doctor about requesting the screen.

Your doctor takes a single blood draw or saliva sample and sends it to our lab. Saliva tests can also be taken at home.

Your sample is analyzed by our state-of-the-art sequencing technologies. This usually takes about 2 weeks.

Once your genetic screen is completed, a genetic counselor may contact you to explain your results and answer any questions you might have.

If your Provider has chosen Couples Reporting, both members of the couple will have the ability to view each other’s clinical information in reports and genetic counseling sessions.*

Medical experts recommend carrier screening
Medical experts, such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, recommend that carrier screening be offered to all women who are pregnant or planning for pregnancy.

Watch our Carrier Screening Pre-test Video

Your healthcare provider may have discussed the option of genetic carrier screening with you. The purpose of genetic carrier screening is to determine if a reproductive couple may be at increased risk of having a child affected with a genetic condition. *Genetic carrier screening is used to determine if reproductive partners may be at increased risk of having a child affected with a genetic condition. Reproductive partners’ information is generally analyzed in pairs to better determine clinically significant results and actionable measures.  If your Provider has chosen to receive a single comprehensive report that analyzes both reproductive partners’ information (a “Couples Report”), Sema4 will disclose to each partner the other partner’s clinical information during genetic counseling sessions, and will provide genetic counseling session notes and a report that contains both partners’ clinical information to each partner and their healthcare providers. The sharing of clinical information between partners and family members is covered in Sema4’s informed consent forms, which can be found on our Resources webpage.
