The information you need to decide what comes next
If you are pregnant, your doctor may recommend testing for chromosomal conditions. In rare cases, a baby will have an extra or missing chromosome, or part of a chromosome. This can lead to pregnancy loss or genetic conditions associated with physical or intellectual disabilities, such as Down syndrome. There are two ways that chromosomal conditions can be detected – screening tests and diagnostic tests. While diagnostic tests offer more definitive answers, they are also associated with a small risk to the pregnancy. Due to this, some women prefer to start with a screening test, like Sema4 Noninvasive Prenatal Select. Learn more in our patient brochure below.
